What material should I choose for soft, comfortable sheets?

Choosing sheets: comfort and quality first and foremost

Quality bed linen is essential for a good night's sleep. But with so many different materials available - bamboo, lyocell, cotton, washed cotton, linen - it can be difficult to make the right choice. Each has its own specific characteristics in terms of softness, breathability and durability.

At Comptoir du Bambouwe have chosen to exploit the incredible properties of bamboo satina top-of-the-range fibre that combines softness, resistance and eco-responsibility.

Bamboo and lyocell: two fibres with similar performances

Bamboo linen is often compared to lyocell (Tencel™) because they have so much in common.

🔹 Smooth and fluid Bamboo: Like lyocell, bamboo has an ultra-silky, silk-like texture, ideal for a premium feel.
🔹 Thermoregulation and breathability These two fibres are perfect for optimum comfort all year round: they absorb moisture and wick away heat, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter.
🔹 Hypoallergenic and antibacterial Thanks to their natural properties, bamboo and lyocell limit the proliferation of bacteria and dust mites, making them an ideal choice for sensitive skin.
🔹 Eco-responsibility Bamboo and lyocell are made from plant fibres and require little water to produce, making them more sustainable options than conventional cotton.

Why choose bamboo over lyocell?

The bamboo satin from Comptoir du Bambou offers an even more luxurious finish and greater resistance to washing, without any loss of softness. What's more, our manufacturing process preserves the integrity of the fibres to guarantee exceptional quality.

Cotton vs washed cotton: what are the differences?

Cotton is the most popular material for bed linen, but not all cotton is created equal.

🔹 Classic cotton Available in percale (tightly woven and matt) or satin (shinier and silkier), it offers a good compromise between comfort and durability. However, it can lose some of its softness with each wash.

🔹 Washed cotton This cotton undergoes a special treatment to give it a slightly crumpled appearance and a softer feel from the first use. It gives a relaxed, cosy style, but is less silky than bamboo satin.

Why choose bamboo?

Unlike washed cotton, which softens artificially, bamboo is naturally soft and remains so over time. It combines the breathability of cotton with the fluidity and softness of lyocell, offering the very best in luxury bed linen.

Why choose Comptoir du Bambou?

Comptoir du Bambou equips the finest hotels with exceptional linen designed to last. Our bamboo satin offers an incomparable sleep experience, far beyond the standards of cotton or lyocell.

With our linen, enjoy absolute comfort, natural elegance and a lasting commitment.
