Bamboo Satin, the new trend in bedding

Shopping for bedding can be both fun and overwhelming. All brands offer the same products, in 100% cotton, of varying quality, from percale to cotton sateen. How do you choose the right material for your bedding? What are the best fabrics and materials?

If you're looking for luxury bedding, read on for a practical analysis of Bamboo Sateen - cotton sateen and silk - that will help you tell the difference between the three. Ultimately, we'll guide you to the bedding products that suit your lifestyle.

What is satin?

The word 'satin' refers to a weaving technique rather than a distinct material. The satin weave uses a pattern of one underthread - the oak thread - and four (or more) weft threads on top. The result is a thicker, warmer, heavier satin texture with a very subtle sheen that gives a luxurious look and feel.

Bamboo sateen, a noble and original fibre for high quality linen

The composition of the fibre has a considerable influence on the quality of the linen. At Comptoir du Bambou, the composition of Fibre B., mixed with top quality cotton (Egyptian cotton) and one of the best species of bamboo, allows us to obtain the best quality satin fabric. Our bed sheets are breathable, soft and silky thanks to the presence of bamboo. So there is no feeling of overheating of your body.

Bamboo Satin, for exceptional bed sheets

As you will have understood, satin is a method of weaving and not a quality of fibre. At Comptoir du Bambou, the length and quality of our fibre allows us to make the best satin sheets, which allows us to make high quality products, prized by the most beautiful hotels in the world and which are very popular with individuals. Our Bamboo Sateen sheets are very strong and soft to the touch. Unlike cotton sateen or cotton percale sheets, which are very crumpled due to the characteristics of cotton, our bamboo sateen sheets are wrinkle-free due to the softness of our fibre.

Cotton sateen sheets are thick, they retain heat and this can be uncomfortable for some sleepers. They wake up sweating. The sleep is not restful and the experience is not good.

On the other hand, cotton quickly becomes dry and loses its soft and silky appearance.

The care of bamboo satin sheets is extremely simple. Simply wash them in cold water with a mild, non-toxic detergent and dry them at a low temperature. Never wash satin sheets in hot water and never dry them with hot air, as this may damage the fabric.

Bamboo Satin, the fineness of silk and the simplicity of cotton

Silk has a fascinating history. Invented in China thousands of years ago, legend has it that the fabric originated when Empress Si Ling-Chi discovered the silkworm after a cocoon accidentally fell into her tea. When she removed the cocoon from her cup, a glittering thread began to unravel. Curious, she searched until she found its source - the Bombyx mori larva.

Even today, the best quality silk is produced from the cocoons of the mulberry silkworm: Bombyx mori. This natural filament can reach a length of 3,000 feet from a single cocoon and is composed of fibroin proteins. As these filaments are too fine to be used alone in a fabric, several filaments are twisted together to form a much stronger thread. In fact, silk is the strongest natural fibre in the world.

Silk is a natural material that is light, extremely breathable and quick drying. Silk fabric regulates body temperature well, allowing you to feel cool in summer and warm in winter. This temperature-regulating characteristic is also found in our Bamboo Sateen sheets.

Silk is a luxurious fibre that can sometimes be very expensive! Silk sheets are not very absorbent due to the structure of the fibre. So, if you tend to sweat at night, you can destroy your silk bed sheets quite quickly.

Washing silk sheets at home requires some elbow grease. Silk sheets should be washed by hand in cold water with a mild detergent specially designed for silk. Never put silk sheets in the tumble dryer.

Bamboo Satin, a unique material for soft and comfortable linen

Comptoir du Bambou bed sheets are breathable and absorbent, just like the plant that makes them up: Bamboo. Perspiration will be absorbed without being uncomfortable and without damaging your sheets.

Bamboo Satin is a long-fibre material that is both luxurious to the touch and durable. It makes it possible to design high quality linen that is almost ideal: breathable, absorbent and easy to care for. It is in terms of feel that Comptoir du Bambou's Bamboo Sateen sheets stand out: ultra-soft, it is an unbeatable comfort.

Suppliers to the most beautiful hotels in the world, Comptoir du Bambou offers a wide range of bed linen: flat sheets, duvet covers, fitted sheets, square or rectangle pillowcases.

In order to look your best as soon as you wake up, our Bamboo Sateen is smooth which will prevent "crush lines" on your skin. Bamboo Satin will also better absorb moisture from your skin, another benefit that will allow you to have a healthy and restful sleep.

At Comptoir du Bambou we control almost our entire value chain to offer the best products on the market at an affordable price. We use a very specific type of bamboo and use the most modern and developed manufacturing facilities.
