how bamboo fibre linen is revolutionising the natural fibres industry
The world of textiles is moving towards more sustainable, environmentally-friendly practices. Bamboo pulp household linen is an elegant, eco-friendly option for those seeking comfort without compromising the planet. Bamboo pulp linen is often compared to eucalyptus or birch wood pulp (notably Tencel and Lyocell) for its softness and comfort. But unlike bamboo fibres, they are fragile and have an ecological footprint that should not be overlooked.
Gentle to the touch, gentle for
the Planet
The main characteristic of this linen is its delicate softness. Each piece, whether sheets, pillowcases or towels, is designed to offer cosy comfort. The production of Fibre B. bamboo fibre household linen limits the impact on our planet, promoting a more environmentally-friendly lifestyle.
Unlike traditional wood pulp such as eucalyptus or birch, bamboo is a grass. It must therefore be grown to fertilise the soil.
While the the growing production of Tencel from eucalyptus or birch plays a major role in deforestation, leading to the loss of natural habitats and the loss of biodiversity.
Eucalyptus and birch plantations require a lot of water. By way of comparison, birch grows 30 to 60cm per year, eucalyptus 1 to 2m per year if it is in ideal conditions (which requires sustained irrigation), and bamboo 30cm to 3m per year (without the use of water or pesticides).
Natural Thermal Regulation
A remarkable feature of linen made from bamboo or wood pulp is its ability to regulate temperature naturally. Whether in summer or winter, these textiles breathe and adapt to offer you optimum comfort all year round. Say goodbye to nights that are too hot or too cold!
Hypoallergenic: Ideal for Everyone
Its hypoallergenic nature makes it a perfect option for those with sensitive skin. The natural fibres are soft to the touch and reduce the risk of skin irritation, providing a healthy and soothing sleeping environment.
A Responsible Choice for a Better Future
Choosing wood pulp household linen is always better than 100% cotton household linen in terms of eco-responsibility. It's a step towards a more sustainable lifestyle. At Comptoir du bambou, our linens are manufactured to high environmental standards, helping to preserve our planet for future generations. Compared to Tencel made from Eucalyptus pulp often touted as an ecological option, is the subject of debate: deforestation and land use, impact on water resources, intensive farming practices, social impacts.
